COPENHAGEN, 29 October 2026. Accobat A/S today released accoPLANNING V2, the next version of its budgeting, forecasting and writeback visual for Microsoft Power BI. V2 keeps the writeback engine that finance and BI teams already rely on and adds a new experience on top: AI on the planning inputs, more freedom to shape the plan, and richer reporting in the same visual.
The best matrix possible in Power BI
Almost every financial Power BI report ends up in a matrix, so accoPLANNING V2 sets out to make that matrix as capable as it can be. It combines highly flexible formatting, advanced calculations, financial reporting, data entry and writeback, planning, forecasting and ad hoc analysis in one visual, inside Power BI.
Planners budget, forecast and comment directly in the report they already use. Every value is written back to the organization's own database, whether that is SQL Server, Azure SQL Database or Fabric SQL Database, with a full audit trail and row-level access. There is no separate planning platform to run and no spreadsheets to send back and forth.
What's new in accoPLANNING V2
AI in the planning grid
Planners describe a change in plain words, such as "increase Q1 marketing by 5%", review the result in the grid and decide whether to save it. The assistant connects to the organization's own AI of choice through the visual's settings.
Build by prompting
With accoTOOL Skills, Claude or Microsoft Copilot can draft a complete planning solution from an Excel sheet: the database, the semantic model, the report and the setup.
Freedom without breakage
Set up hierarchies freely, run simulations on the fly, and add spreads, allocations, ratios and variances as calculated rows and columns, without touching the data model or risking the writeback.
Richer reporting
Cell-level formatting, in-cell bars and variance indicators, rich text comments, line-item detail and drag-and-drop views keep the story next to every number.
AI as your sidekick
AI adds a new dimension to accoPLANNING V2. The assistant works alongside the user in the grid and helps them get more out of their data. Powerful capabilities become more accessible to new users, while experienced users get even more freedom to build exactly what they need.
- ✓Explore your data and unlock insights by asking questions in plain words.
- ✓Navigate complex functionality without having to know where every setting lives.
- ✓Implement sophisticated calculations and configurations simply by prompting, for example "increase Q1 marketing by 5%".
- ✓Stay in control: the AI suggests, the user reviews the result in the grid, and nothing is saved until a person approves it.

Why we built accoPLANNING V2
“We see it time and time again with our customers: almost every financial Power BI report eventually ends up in a matrix. So why not make it the best matrix possible?
With accoPLANNING V2, we're pushing the boundaries of what a matrix can do, combining highly flexible formatting, advanced calculations, financial reporting, data entry and writeback, planning, forecasting and ad hoc analysis, all within Power BI.
And now, AI adds a whole new dimension. We envision AI as a sidekick that helps users get more out of their data, navigate complex functionality and implement sophisticated calculations and configurations simply by prompting. The goal is to make powerful capabilities more accessible, while giving experienced users even more freedom to build exactly what they need.
This has been a long-standing ambition of mine: to go deep into every detail, feature and function, and create a data grid that goes far beyond displaying numbers. With accoPLANNING V2, we want to set the bar high, and redefine what people can expect from a matrix in Power BI.”
A light upgrade for existing customers
- ✓Existing accoPLANNING license keys work in V2, so there is nothing new to buy to get started.
- ✓V1 and V2 run in parallel on Microsoft AppSource until all customers have migrated, so teams can move one report at a time.
- ✓V2 runs on the existing Power BI semantic model, and data stays in the customer's own database.
- ✓Accobat is also working on an approach for single-click migration from V1 to V2.
